Paris has a deeper and stranger connection to its underground than almost any city, and that underground is one of the richest. The arteries and intestines of Paris, the hundreds of miles of tunnels that make up some of the oldest and densest subway and sewer networks in the world, are just the start of it, now Underbelly have made this Parisian network of tunnels even richer.
Following on from their 2 year project in NYC, Pac and Workhorse have just unveiled their latest incarnation of the project, this time in Paris.
Read the full story on Huffington Post. Makes for fascinating reading.
Keep an eye out for future posts on Underbelly's remarkable project including the exhibition about to open in Miami.

INCOMING, KAWS EXHIBITION

KAWS
Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth Texas.
December 11, 2011-February 19, 2012
3200 Darnell Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107
The work of Brooklyn-based artist Brian Donnelly, who makes his art under the moniker “KAWS,” is the subject of the first Focus exhibition for the 2011–2012 season. KAWS’s vast body of work includes graffiti (early in his career), murals, paintings, and sculpture. Following along the continuum of Pop art, his work critiques contemporary consumer culture, blurring the boundaries between it and the art world. Building an artistic language, which includes altered forms of familiar animated characters, such as Mickey Mouse, the Michelin Man, and SpongeBob SquarePants, his cartoonlike hybrids are often depicted in various states of the human condition.

NEW FROM FAITH 47
Just received this terrific image from Faith 47 of a new piece in Johannesburg titled "Power and enlargement".
HERBERT BAGLIONE IN MEXICO
I have a lot of difficulty on painting in the streets for no reason. I end up creating thousands of barriers that prevent me from doing something just for the pleasure. But, since my last trip to Europe I have noticed the power that the streets have, and I’ve forgotten. The communication with the people in the neighborhoods is a very valuable thing.
After one month there, I’ve stayed a few days in São Paulo, breathed my daily carbon monoxide and traveled to Mexico so that I could give death a kiss.
You know that feeling when sometimes you need to be in another place to see where you came from and what made you happy? It was that kind of feeling I had in Oaxaca. I can try to describe it saying that I died and there they gave me a new opportunity to reborn.
At the party of the Dia de Los Muertos I felt all the passages of the soul. In the color and simplicity of the people’s houses I saw similarities with the Brazil I like.
I’m far from being mystical, but I feel that in many places I’m not there by chance.
Strangely, the stone streets, the wind and the lights reminded me of the places that I consider the best to paint in São Paulo. Parque São Lucas, Vila Ema, Vila Prudente, Ipiranga and Mooca (neighborhoods in São Paulo) are the places that I miss and every time I go there, my heart beats differently.
I remembered some paintings I did with Boleta and Vitché, our wanderings and endless conversations.
It’s different when you are invited to paint with another artist that you don’t have the intimacy, and your work flows so naturally that scares. So it was with Lakra.
The first thing I admire about someone, regardless of their art, is their simplicity in life in general. I identified immediately with him and this was a safe step for our work. In fact, in this kind of experience, the least important thing is the result. The process is priceless. The people who passed by, the conversations during painting, a child dressed as Spiderman seeing everything with curiosity, filming and photographing friends. All those things show that it meant something else other than what was recorded on the wall. —Herbert Baglione

WYNWOOD WALLS, WHERE ART GOES TO DIE OR ?
HCTN VOL 1.1 INTRODUCING THE WALLS from Here Comes the Neighborhood on Vimeo.

HCTN VOL 1.2 GAIA from Here Comes the Neighborhood on Vimeo.
RJ at Vandalog has just blogged a rather interesting post on the Wynwood walls project in Miami which gave us pause for thought, what with Woosters "Curated" Street Art Calanders, and to a certain extent our own development and product. When capital becomes the primary force behind the creation of art, what does it lose. Maybe nothing to the street art tourist and the general populace, maybe nothing to the MOCA/Deitch/Goldman combine. Damn, it would be nice not to worry about this shit on a Monday. Do the means justify the ends or the ends justify the means. Having initially snuck past the two bastions of cultural and economic value, the museums and auction houses, has Street Art now been hijacked by the private sector and all we're left with are novelty street art erasers, calendars, ipad cases and cemeteries for Murals.

NEW FROM ALEXANDROS VASMOULAKIS
Just received these from our friend Alexandros who was over for Nuart 2010.
"I am dealing with a new series called “Pseudo-Advertising”, where I focus upon the relationship between today’s muralism and the contemporary outdoor advertising. Combining imagery from both fields and creating works that could be described either as ads or street art pieces, my main goal is to create a dialogue about what does or does not make murals distinctive.
The latest piece "Untitled" is the 3rd part of the series and is located in the OCT Loft area of Shenzhen, China".

INVADER. ATTACK OF THE SPACE WAFFLES
Attack of the Space Waffles By Invader
1st December–24th December 2011
Private View: Thursday 1st December6–9pm
The Outsiders gallery, 8 Greek St, London W1D 4DG
‘Attack of the Space Waffles’ is out-there, surreal, and suitably seasonal. Invader’s ‘Space Waffle Machine’ will be in operation, dispensing hot waffles throughout the exhibition for the gallery’s Christmas guests. Pre- made waffles preserved in vacuum packs will also serve as one of the many editions available at the show. An unused ‘Space Waffle Machine’ will also be for sale.
Many unique ‘Alias’ versions of some of Invader’s most compelling recent street pieces make up the bulk of the exhibition. The mosaics are presented upon slim black Perspex boxes, with the identity cards specifying the details of the original outdoor work that inspired them inside.
An ‘Invaded Disco Ball’ forms the exhibition’s primary installation, casting celestial visuals and interplanetary vibrations across the gallery’s main show space. A twenty-minute documentary ‘In Bed with Invader’ following the artist round one night’s work in Paris will screen in the gallery’s video room. Vending machines crafted by Invader himself will dispense fifteen all-new stickers. New print editions will also be available at the show and on theoutsiders.net. These mondo marvels and stellar souvenirs will crush everything in their path this Christmas at ‘Attack of the Space Waffles’. Plus the gallery will smell really cosy, too.

ESCIF KEEPS ON GIVING

This may have been already published and discussed around the blogosphere, if it has apologies, hadn't see it before. Now, I think I'm kinda smart, not easily impressed, a bit world weary, read it, seen it, done it all type. You know, a bit annoying and cocky. Then I see something like this.. and it just stops me dead. The simple genius that is Escif. In all the years and eras of mark making, all the lectures, books and exhibitions, and I've never come across the concept. The highlight leaving the form to form the ghost of the deceased leaving a shadow. Mind boggling genius. Simple really.
Thank you Escif.
